AOL rebranding itself to … AOL?

This is actually both kind of funny, and kind of sad; apparently, America Online is looking to broaden its appeal by shortening its name. The thinking is that this will help them with “the problem of taking the brand internationally without offending those countries that don’t want to have an America Online in their midst.”

Ouch. Remember when we were the good guys?

(By the way, for the sixteen people who haven’t heard yet, they also bought Weblogs, Inc. today.)
