I was sort of an on-and-off reader of Slate before WPNI bought them off of Microsoft last year; I’ve become more involved with it since then. One of my favorite things to browse is the Explainer series, where Slate writers answer interesting questions related to events in the news, such as:
- When you buy weapons from the United States, do you get a service contract?
- Is there any way to stop a lava flow?
- What, exactly, is a “Swift boat”?
It’s popular enough to have spawned a collection in print form on the topic (and not, that’s not an affiliate link), and now it’s getting its own podcast, separate from the regular Slate podcast. Yay!
