Two new weblogs from WPNI

posted 1:00 AM UTC in Media

Over the past week, WPNI has introduced two new weblogs that are a little different from the others on the site. One is Post Remix, the brainchild of our special-projects editor. It’s designed to show off outside projects that have been created using our website’s RSS feeds and APIs, similar to the BBC’s Backstage project. (I don’t think the RSS screensaver in OS X counts, because it’s part of a commercial project, but FYI it does include a few washingtonpost.com feeds.)

Sadly, my programming skills have atrophied considerably as I’ve grown “older” — 35 in two months! Last day! Carousel begins! — so don’t look for any projects from me. Besides, I’m not up on all this newfangled Web 2.0 business, so I wouldn’t know where to begin. (In my day, we had console apps and we liked it!) I’m interested in seeing what others come up with, though.

The other weblog is post.blog, which is sort of a meta-weblog about washingtonpost.com itself. The goal here is to talk about the way the site’s designed and run, and hopefully offer a chance to get some additional feedback on the process — “what we do, how we do it and why” to quote from the first post. Note to potential commenters: don’t bother griping about the search, we know already.
