Hard to believe, but last Friday marked my third anniversary as a WPNI employee. It’s amazing how different things are after three years here than they were after the same amount of time at NIH. I feel so much more in touch with what’s happening to my employer and its industry, and there’s definitely a lot more communication coming from both the clients I support and the management who support me. I’ve been given numerous opportunities to stretch as a person and to learn not just new technologies, but new (to me) business ideas, like managing projects or interacting with senior staff. Not a lot of that back at the help desk, I’m sorry to say. It’s also a much more cheerful environment than any workplace I’ve been that I can recall. Not always having to worry about your next call, or your next obstacle, tends to have that effect.
Anyway, I feel really lucky to have stayed here this long, and hope to do so for a while longer yet.
(There’s no real point to this post other than to make myself feel good. More news to come later this week, personal and professional. Oooooooo!)
